Product Overview

Designed Around Your Patient's
Exact Corneal Shape

The i-Shape Freeform Scleral lens from Appenzeller Kontaktlinsen (Switzerland) is designed using full corneo-scleral profilometry data from the Eaglet Eye ESP or equivalent platform. Every parameter — base curve, sagittal depth, haptic zone, and edge profile — is derived directly from the patient's own eye surface geometry.

Available with toric haptic options for patients with significant scleral toricity — reducing rotation, improving stability, and enhancing comfort in eyes where standard spherical haptics fail to align.

Key Features

What Makes i-Shape Different

FreeformCNC lathed

Full Freeform Geometry

Every lens is individually lathed to a unique freeform design — not selected from a standard inventory. No two i-Shape lenses are identical.

CorneoScleral Profile Driven

Lens parameters derived directly from profilometry data — sagittal depth, scleral tilt, and toricity captured meridian by meridian.

Toric Haptic Option

Quadrant-specific toric haptic zones address scleral asymmetry — reducing edge lift and improving alignment in irregular scleral shapes.

Swiss CNC Precision

Manufactured in Switzerland to ±0.1 µm tolerance. Appenzeller Kontaktlinsen has produced specialty lenses for over 50 years.

CE Marked

Full CE certification under EU Medical Device Regulation — meeting the highest European standards for safety and clinical performance.

Complex Case Capability

Indicated where standard scleral geometries have failed. Designed for the most asymmetric, challenging corneal and scleral profiles.

Clinical Indications

When Standard Scleral
Lenses Are Not Enough

The i-Shape is indicated when off-the-shelf or standard freeform sclerals cannot achieve adequate alignment, vaulting, or comfort. It is the tool of choice for the most complex cases.

Discuss a Patient Case
  • Advanced keratoconus with asymmetric cone
  • Post-penetrating keratoplasty (PK) with graft tilt
  • Post-LASIK and PRK ectasia
  • Highly asymmetric scleral topography
  • Pellucid marginal degeneration
  • Recurrent lens decentration with other scleral designs
  • Severe ocular surface disease with scleral irregularity
  • Cases where previous scleral fittings have failed
